AI 1️⃣, in this interesting article the phase of curiosity that AI is going through is analyzed. The article is also interesting for those who approach innovation intelligence operationally because it relates 4 fields of analysis of an innovation, innovation intelligence by Michael Dempsey

AI 2️⃣, the vagueness is the presence of fuzzy boundaries between categories. In theory (and logically) the use of AI should lead to the disappearance of vagueness. Processes for obtaining output, part of algorithms with the purpose, for example, of manipulating purchasing decisions or supporting justice, will not leave (and they already don’t leave) room for vagueness. The authors of this paper state that the problem could be solved by Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI), a method for explaining the behaviors of AI systems. In other words, each algorithm should have another algorithm alongside that explains why it made a certain choice. To read, AI intelligence

CBDC, the Indian central bank has issued a concept note on how it intends to develop its digital state currency. Considering the size of the country under the different aspects it is useful to read it, even if in the end they have put together ideas already present without anything new. The reasons why a no-DLT technical solution is preferred and the economic policy considerations are interesting, economic intelligence by RBoI

Cryptocurrencies, the monthly tax obligation of the declaration on the holding of crypto-assets in Brazil, valid for both individuals and companies, provides a good idea of the size of the phenomenon in the country. August, with about 12k companies in possession of assets, was the month of the absolute record, especially since the figure does not consider the percentage of undeclared, crypto-markets intelligence by Livecoins

Elon Musk’s Robot, now that the media hype has quieted a few words about Optimus, the humanoid robot presented a couple of weeks ago by Elon Musk. It is true, Optimus: it is light years behind in functional performance compared to the competitors (industrial and humanoid); it doesn’t have a natural language interface; showed poor sensory aptitudes and no decision-making in unexpected areas; …, all this is true and, above all, it is true that Elon Musk did not present what, last year, he had promised he would have presented. We must not forget, however, that: Optimus is destined for massive production (and with prices appropriate to it), neither for niche nor for research purposes (such as competitors); Tesla is not a car factory but a robot factory, which has an adaptable know-how in getting people from A to B as well as assisting them with housework by a robot; the current Optimus was developed, precisely for the previous reason, in 7 months by the engineers; … . In other words, it is true that, as usual, Elon Musk first says (and promises) and then does but I would be careful with the negative considerations: the road is still long (15/20 years?) for a humanoid with the purpose of serving the humans as a sci-fi tv-series but I am not convinced that Tesla is not in the race to win, innovation intelligence

Industry 5.0, I don’t like all-encompassing labels on innovative phenomena: they are useful in retrospect but when the innovative process is in hype, or in progress, they can be misleading. This is the case of ‘Industry 4.0’ which now, due to a pandemic and geopolitics, has taken on very different connotations compared to the original one coined in Germany. Now is the time for ‘Industry 5.0’ to which we try to give a revolutionary content (in an industrial sense) that certainly does not have for now. From how it is described, it appears rather ‘Industry 4.1’ without anything revolutionary except the implementations of version 4.0 due, in fact, to the pandemic and to the changed geopolitical and geoeconomic frameworks, innovation intelligence by EU Directorate-General for Research and Innovation

Shell companies, I return to the subject, addressed a couple of weeks ago regarding the proposed reform of the English Company House, of unknown beneficiaries through the appointment of agents for shell companies. World Bank drafted a paper this year on the problem, attempting to describe the phenomenon by articulating it by jurisdiction including the aspect of requesting information on the real beneficiaries of the shares of the companies, economic intelligence

SIGINT, the White House has issued a new executive order for the strengthening of government SIGINT activity: everything is allowed and everything is theoretically protected, after everything has occurred and with some foreseeable difficulties in the protection process and activities, SIGINT by White House

Text-to 1️⃣ 3D, T23D, DreamFusion is Google’s experimental project for obtaining 3D models from text. The peculiarity is that it does not require 3D training models (which would require enormous quantities of data and processing resources) but generates, optimizing, from previous libraries in 2D, innovation intelligence by Google

Text-to 2️⃣ Video, T2V, Make-A-Video is Meta’s experimental project to produce videos from a textual description. Also in this case, as can be read in the presentation paper, the same training peculiarity of DreamFusion, namely the use of T2I models, and related descriptions, for the generation of videos, innovation intelligence by Meta
